High Praise for our Facilitative Manager Training Programme

By Martin Pearson, 06-Feb-2013

We recently delivered our Facilitative Manager 2-day training programme in Edinburgh as a partnership venture with ACOSVO and Tods Murray.  Having secured funding to subsidise places for charity managers, we approached ACOSVO to join us in offering this popular programme to managers of charities in Scotland.  Tods Murray provided a stunning venue with spectacular views overlooking the Edinburgh skyline and the castle. Fifteen managers from all across Scotland attended and ACOSVO’s evaluation produced excellent results for the programme design and our facilitator Paul Cummings.  Participants were asked to give a score between 1-9 where 1=bad and 9=superb.

Participant Comments

This is an excellent course. Together with Paul, the Trainer, and the other participants, it allowed me to consider, to learn, and to experience a different way of managing.

In the third sector, we can sometimes be afraid of being Managers; however, when we realise that a lot of our job should involve getting the best out of our staff and motivating them, management can be seen in a new light. This course has equipped me to do just that and to take time to manage myself- a fairly foreign but essential concept!

With thanks to Paul and to all at Tods Murray for a very worthwhile trip to Edinburgh!

Angela Feherty, Senior Manager (Development), Revive MS Support

A truly valuable experience; both in stimulating creative thinking around the difficulties and the developments in the workplace, as well as providing an intelligent, psychologically- minded framework on which to hang the issues. An energising format illuminating the information with good humour, constructive modeling and role play, as well as a wealth of tailored programme notes for reference. A highly recommended course that will provide new skills and tools to inspire you, and help you develop the confidence to use them.

Joyce Linklater, Deputy manager, Post Natal Depression Services, Edinburgh. Crossreach, Church of Scotland Social Care

I wish I had gone to the Facilitative Manager programme at the start of my management career! I have already put into practise some of the tools learned. I was given the tools to assist me in addressing the imbalance of power in the relationships with employees.

Suzanne Swinton, Manager, Angus Independent Advocacy

Probably 2 of the most worthwhile days I have ever spent on a course.  There is so much to take back to my organisation.  I will be a much better manager through applying the models, processes and techniques learnt from this course.
